Patt-er-rens

My little baby Tyler is getting so big....he's working on laptops now! ugh! Ok, I set him up with it and taught him how to use it, but STILL!!!

The other day I was showing him the "kids" section on the official Broncos site, he jumped right in... setting up his own "Denver Broncos" football field - players, cheerleaders, and mascots included. Quietly working away for 5 minutes or so, he pipes in and says "I put these 2 guys down like this, making a patt-er-ren." What? Since when does Tyler recognize patterns? While I love hearing all his new "smart-ness"and so forth......QUIT GROWING UP KID!!! :)

Ding Dong, Anyone?

My claim to fame is simple…I’m not clumsy, I’m not forgetful, I’m nice..dang-it, and I don’t have those so-called “Mondays”. BUT we all have to fall from our perfect mold sometimes, right?
I’m going to be the first to admit…..yesterday being Monday…I took full advantage and made it my so-called “Monday”.

1. I got to work late…LATE!!!! What is wrong with me?
2. I turned on my computer knowing that I needed to do something important……….but I couldn’t remember what it was! WHAT??
3. Matt came out and asked me if I had heard from his client…let’s call her “Suzy” (they had a hearing in 15 minutes) She’s always prompt and blah blah..no sign of her! Well then court time arrived and Matt told me he was going to the court house and if I heard from Suzy, then I should send her over to District Court. Two minutes later, the phone rings…it’s Matt, he says “Hey Kristi…the front door was still locked..and I found Suzy…outside waiting for me.” WHAT?? I looked at the time…now mind you…our offices open at 8am. Well on Monday, November 17, 2008, we opened at 8:45! WHAT was happening to me?
4. Before I went to work, I told myself, “Don’t forget to bring home your small Nalgene.” I got home at lunch…CRAP! I didn’t remember! So I told myself “ok…at 5…don’t forget to bring home your small Nalgene” Did I remember? NO! CRAP!
5. Rebekah asked me if I would leave a few minutes early for lunch, so that I could be back in time for her to leave for lunch right at 1:30 as she had a Dr. appointment. So I leave early…I’m strolling along enjoying lunch…CRAP! I forgot I left early!
6. I’m known around the office for my memory. Bill asked me if I had seen the…. let’s call this one…the “Peanut Butter and Jelly” file. I responded “No…not in a long time!” 5 minutes later…I realized it was on my desk…and I had put it there!!! WHAT???

So needless to say….yesterday…I was 100% ding dong!

My (I know it's late) Pumpkin 2008

I know I'm semi late in posting a picture of my pumpkin carving talents for this year, but ya gotta be late in something right? :)

I think he's cute, even though he's slightly evil.

Well everyone...enjoy Halloween one more time in 2008!

Camoflauge Nails

SURPRISE! I got my nails done again! I couldn’t decide between silver or white, but BAM! I got the best of both worlds.

They actually remind me of this snowy icy weather we are having…brrr….baby, it’s cold outside! Ok, how many people did I get to sing the old Ella Fitzgerald song? AND if you didn’t sing it then…are you singing it now? Go on…admit it!

My CSI Halloween

Who, who, who, who….whooooo are you? Ok, that’s my typed out attempt at singing the CSI Las Vegas theme song. Halloween…what a great holiday! I love love love it!!! William, Janine, and I are huge fans of CSI Las Vegas! It’s an addiction..and I don’t need a cure! One evening while watching another fabulous episode, William said “we should be CSI for Halloween” and Janine and I took off with that idea and here ya have it….the finished product. Our own CSI team! Don’t we look soo cool?? According to the lame judges, we weren’t worthy of winning the group costume contest, but we all knew different. Everybody there told us that we were “robbed” It’s true!

Now I know you all thought the Election was over, but there is one more issue on the ballot……

Which is cooler the same old same old “granny” (put on slippers, put your hair in rollers and wear a housecoat) costume or the awesome CSI costumes that we put together?? Yeah..the granny team beat us! I honestly didn’t even know they were a team…or a group…or whatever! LAME!

CSI RULES!

Birthdays and Snapping Turtles...

NOO..snapping winning streaks!!! I don’t need any presents today…I already received my favorite gift….....THANK YOU Horned Frogs! Six sacks and only 7 points. Ahhh…I think I’ve died and gone to birthday heaven!

AND since it's my birthday...here are my birthday facts… (drum roll)

October 17 is the 290th day of the year (291st in leap years)

Some folks who share my birthday…

Rita Hayworth
Alan Jackson
Margot Kidder
Eminem
Norm MacDonald
Chris Kirkpatrick
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Wyclef Jean
Evel Knievel

This is what I found about people born on October 17th…

You desire harmony, love, companionship, and peace with people; and you enjoy ease and comfort. You have great inner strength. You prefer kindness and thoughtfulness to the alternatives. As a dreamer and visionary, you desire others to know the necessity of living true to ideals.
Many people call themselves your friend. You are a natural peacemaker and diplomat.
You present yourself as a special individual, imbued with self-reliance, originality, and strong will power. You often appear witty and dignified, and enjoy being around other go-getters. With a definite goal, you can be enormously productive.
You have integrity and are kind, patient, cheerful, artistic, creative, and a constant source of pleasure. And use your inspiration and imagination to spread your happiness by direct people contact and by writing, speaking, music, painting, decorating, or acting.
You are a social person and enjoy entertaining and being entertained -- talkative and usually well dressed.

In all, I’m truly blessed this X number of years into my life. I have an awesome family that love me and care for my happiness, I have numerous friends who are always there for me and many of who have been truly great examples to me. I’m a member of the Lord’s church, I have a wonderful job, I have a house to call home, I have an adorable nephew that idolizes me (it’s true), and I’m happy!! Thank you.....all of you!

It's that time again....

After my own personal hiatus from blogging....I'm back!!

I thought I could free up some time and find myself less busy, but honestly I feel like my life is split between bookkeeping (AGAIN) and ........GHOST TOURS!! When can a girl catch a break? BUT yes, it's that time of year again....the pumpkins, goblins, and the haunts come out and practically eat up all my spare time! We have a 3 very full groups, the Horsebarn group, the Downtown group, and the Prison group. Each group consists of about 35-40 Wyo Tech students. The AWESOME Horsebarn group is graced by none other than....me. Oh and Janine..hehehe. Janine is the sound booth and light technician. Ooooo..she's certified AND she's the ONLY person allowed in the sound booth. Ooooo again! Isn't she so special? I'm the Horsebarn Manager, which loosely translates to "stage director" or at times "babysitter". The first tour starts Saturday, October 18th. I was lucky enough to get my mom to black out Friday.....it's my birthday!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo! Another year of astounding beauty slapped on my back! :)

Ghost Tours...thus far...has been fun, but holy cow...I hope I survive!

The Excited Witness

So today, we didn’t have our lunch meeting..Woo! Hoo! The two attorneys that usually meet with us are in mediation and legislative meetings. Luckily… none of the other attorneys had new shark stories that needed discussing. Hehe.

AND…I have more great news......I’m getting a new phone!!! I can’t wait! It should be here today. It’s the new LG Env2 from Verizon. I’m way overdue for a new phone. Ohh wow..let me tell ya the story. So, I bought the LG Venus in January and it’s been nothing but problem after problem. In March, it totally malfunctioned and lost network connection. I had to drive to Cheyenne for a replacement phone. I get everything programmed back in my phone, life’s good! (wait…isn’t that the LG slogan?) Weird! Anyway, in July, I plugged my phone in to charge, with confidence that it would be charged and ready for the next day. On my way out the door, upon unplugging my phone, it died. I plugged it back in and it came right on. Basically, the phone wouldn’t stay on…unless it was plugged in. Kind of takes away from the idea that it’s a “mobile” phone. So, I make another trip to Cheyenne and get my phone replaced. Everything’s good again and 3 days..yes…3 days later..my phone broke in two pieces. I call Verizon and they willingly mail me another replacement since I’ve made trip after trip to Cheyenne. Yay…new phone arrived on August 7 and now it just randomly turns off in the middle of conversations and the thing looks like I’ve had it for 2 years. It’s so ugly. WELL I’m finally finally finally getting a new phone…that isn’t a crappy Venus.

And now…the lovely......”Witness Wednesday”

Something I’ve witnessed in the past: The “Alley Cats” (my bowling team when I was in 4th grade) winning 1st place in our league! I still have the trophy to prove it!

Something I’ve witnessed today: My cute little convertible car getting an oil change, oh and that means she’s getting a bath too! Yay for GM Auto!

Something I want to witness in the future: The movie “Speed Racer”, don’t laugh......I really haven’t seen it yet.

May the "force" be with you....

I try to be subtle, but sometimes subtle doesn’t work, so I’m posting some movie trivia to “force” you silent readers to comment!!

Kristi’s Movie Trivia.

1. What was Johnny Depp’s first film?

2. Who was the first female to direct a film that raked in over $100 million?

3. What is this creature named?

4. Where were the “Lord of the Rings” movies filmed?

5. What movie did Tom Hanks star in that was based on a Stephen King novel?

6. What does Hakuna Matata mean?

7. Who played the Headless Horseman in “Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow”?

8. What is this creature called?

9. In the movie “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”, what was Indy searching for?

10. What was Nemo’s dads name in the movie “Finding Nemo”?

Now go forth.................and comment!

The calm (3 months) before the storm

In case you didn’t know by now, I live in Wyoming. As far as tropical storms go, that’s a big NEVER here! BUT I’ve got friends in low places…or sometimes known as Texas, so I’m keeping a watchful eye on “Ike” because honestly….storms of that nature (huge and freaky) scare me! So I’m posting some happier times by the Seawall...... Good luck Texas!
AND once again....what song just popped in your head?

Rainy days and Thursdays always get me down…

Another rainy day in Laramie today and I can say without a doubt in my mind….I’m tired of it. This girl needs some sun! Ok, what are my options? 1. I can go tanning…ahhh…the cocoon of sunny warmth! 2. I can turn up the heat and block all the windows and set up a palm tree, maybe throw in some Luau music. 3. I can go to sleep (I love sleeping) and not wake up till Saturday morning. I guess I’ll just quit whining. Ok done!

BUT there is some silver lining to all this lack of sun in my life…..I’m heading to the sun in 23 days! California here I come! Maybe I’ll throw in a little Disneyland as well. HA! Who am I kidding?!?! I’m going to Disneyland for 2 days!!! Guess who is also coming with me? My favorite little guy, Tyler!!!!

Ok, sidenote....What fabulous singer did my title make you all think of?

Brand Spanking New Witness!

Wow! Is today Friday? Haha…don’t I say that every day? Well, being another fun “Witness Wednesday”, we gathered around the lunch table for discussions about meth addicts, and alcoholics. It makes sense to have a staff meeting about drugs, right? Oh! We did get our standard 5 minutes of office related subjects addressed. I’ll admit the meeting wasn’t too bad today. Wow, that’s two weeks in a row that I’ve said that. First of all, great day because we ordered Mexican food!!!! Our last bookkeeper didn’t like Mexican food…..WHAT??? Crazy, I know! Anyway, so we never ordered it. We always ordered just your typical “American” style food. BUT, we have a new bookkeeper (as I mentioned before) and a new legal assistant, who started Monday and she’s been absolutely fabulous! Both are quick learners and very pleasant! Ok, enough of my boring meeting crap......

AND on to another “Witness Wednesday”

Something I’ve witnessed in the past: Winning first place in a writing contest in High School. I was even featured in the Laramie Boomerang.....I can just see everyone’s jealous faces!

Something I’ve witnessed today: Walking past the men’s room and being assaulted by the most awful smell EVER!!! Don’t do that at work, people!!!!

Something I want to witness in the future: Being debt free....hey I’m allowed to dream, aren’t I?

Ohh how I love the Shoe Fairy!!

Once upon a time a beautiful young girl (that’s me…Kristi) lived happily in a cute little town called Laramie. It just so happened that she loved and owned as many shoes as much as any fashionably hip New Yorker. In fact there were days that she felt she could bring on some pretty tough competition in the footwear department. One lovely September day, the shoe fairy (Kristi’s debit card) bought a new pair of super cute Mary Jane Terrain style shoes. Ohh the anticipation for their arrival! She waited on her front porch (or technically at her desk, since she works a full time job) for the postman to deliver her latest addition to a growing collection. Once these cuties arrive…she’ll place them on her dainty feet…for all the world to see.

Here’s a peek!

Happily Witnessing

What’s today? Is it Tuesday? It sure feels like it, but no…we’ve landed right in the middle of another glorious Witness Wednesday!

I’ve been busy training our new bookkeeper! I love that I can tell him how to do something, and then leave him to do it! Woohoo!! I’m books and billing free!!! I love being at my cute new desk working on my cute legal assistant stuff. Ok, it’s not “cute”, but it seems so loving and cute compared to the monster that is bookkeeping! Wow…I’m surprisingly in a good mood for a Wednesday…hmmm….. Do I smell change in the air?

AND…to not waste anymore time…..

The 3rd Witness Wednesday…TA-DA!!!

Something I’ve witnessed in the past: Discovering my car is dead..and I mean dead at WalMart…and it’s 11:30 at night!! What a horrible night!

Something I’ve witnessed today: Our new bookkeeper picking up on things super fast!! Oh I love it!

Something I want to witness in the future: more Prison Break…the 2 hour premiere on Monday night was sooooo awesome!!! I can’t wait for more!!!

P.S. The Cowboys won last Saturday!

Sea of Gold, here I come!

Picture this: Clear skies, the mildly perfect Laramie sun beating down on you, "Ragtime Cowboy Joe" melodically playing in the background, the smell of the concessions, the lovely view from the 30 yard line (better than the 50...seriously), and the most beautiful sea of Wyoming gold everywhere you look! Ahh..sounds pefect huh? The Wyoming Cowboys kickoff the 2008 football season this Saturday at War Memorial Stadium and I'm gonna be there with every ounce of brown and gold blood pumping through my veins! I can't promise the winningest season, but by golly.....it will be fabulous!!

The Lone Witness

I had one of the greatest days ever today! No Witness Wednesday! It was slightly impossible to have any sort of staff lunch meeting today......AS I WAS THE ONLY STAFF MEMBER!!! We are in a transitional phase right now. Our bookkeeper quit at the end of July, as I mentioned before....and who had to take over the books? ME! So, I became the bookkeeper along with the main legal assistant. It's too much! Well, the interviewing process began...and right smack in the middle of it all......we lost another full time staff member..HOLY crap! How much can one girl endure? She actually decided to go to school full time and the firm is allowing her to work part time as long as the work is there. BUT yes, that left me, handling the books, billing, and taking care of 7 attorneys all by myself!! I seriously feel a little crazy lately! I've got great news though....ready? We've hired a bookkeeper and he (yes I said he) starts on the 2nd! He seems really nice and his resume is extremely impressive. I'm sooo relieved! I thought I wiped my plate clean of bookkeeping when I transitioned over to full time legal assistant almost 3 years ago! More great news...we hired another legal assistant, she starts on the 8th! My life is going to be blissfully stress free at work very very soon! I suppose after all this is said and done...more Witness Wednesdays are bound to happen. I've gotta enjoy the small breaks when I can! :)

Ok...here's my 2nd "Witness Wednesday"

Something I’ve witnessed in the past: Janine and I installing XM radio in her car (ok..I helped her do it JUST tonight......still the past!)

Something I’ve witnessed today: My beloved 9th Street overrun by the dang students!! I sat through 2 red lights at Harney and 9th this morning! Ugh! I love Laramie traffic in the summer!

Something I want to witness in the future: me in bed before Midnight! It's bound to happen one of these days!

*great and now technically...it's Thursday!*

The Broncos Don't Stink

The other day, I was flipping through the channels with Tyler. Being the huge football fan that he is, we HAD to stop on some program showcasing the Dallas Cowboys spring training and a practice with the Denver Broncos. I continued folding laundry, stopping to catch a couple glances at Tyler, who sat intently watching random plays by his true devotion…the Broncos!!! After a few minutes, he said “Kristi, Matt that went to Kris’….” I looked up at him and he continued “he said that the Broncos stink!” I quickly had one of those moments where 18 things pass through your mind in a matter of 1 second! Oh the human brain! So there I am quickly racking my brain, “hmm..how do I tell him that people just have different opinions on different teams… and it’s good that we don’t all cheer for the same team because then some teams wouldn’t have anyone to cheer for them…hmm..oh forget it, I’m telling him to slap the next kid that says something so cruel and mean!” haha! Just kidding, I don’t promote violence! Tyler really didn’t give me a chance to respond, in a very matter of fact tone said “but they don’t…do they..? they ALWAYS have to shower!” Ohh little kids…they keep me young!

Prison Break Pause

For all those out there wondering if I lived through my dentist appointment.....I DID!!! Wahoo! And guess what? I'm going back on the 2nd! I know, I must be crazy!

So why the delay in posting something new, you ask? Well....I was on a Prison Break pause! The 3rd season came out on DVD this past month and a lot of my free time has been spent drooling over Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. Actually, I love the show, I don't just watch it for the boys. If you haven't watched it.....JUST DO IT! Ok, that sounded somewhat like a Nike commercial or a line from Starsky and Hutch. "DO IT!" Funny movie, I recommend that one as well, if you haven't already seen it! Anyway, back to Prison Break, if you love shows like 24 or Dexter, you will LOVE Prison Break! Trust me! I don't just pass out bad recommendations, I got a rep to protect.

Season 4 premieres on Labor Day...so that means you all have 4 1/2 days to watch seasons 1-3. "Do it!"

Dentophobia happens!

In case you didn’t figure it out, Dentophobia means fear of dentists. I guess it’s better than some phobias. I’m pretty sure I don’t suffer from Dipsophobia – the fear of drinking, or Geliophobia – the fear of laughing. There are some interesting phobias out there, if you are curious, you can read them here; http://phobialist.com/
Back to my Dentophobia, I have a dentist appointment today at 3!! Eeek…if I post something tomorrow or anytime in the future, the answer is….I LIVED!!!

Witness Wednesday

Every Wednesday, much to my dread, we have a staff lunch meeting. Mostly it entails lunch of course and a discussion about sharks, movies, or some other random subject. We do find about 5 minutes to discuss something office related which somehow makes certain people in the meeting bring up even more random topics like; one staff member’s husband taking a spill in the shower…ick! Like I want to think about that! Anyway, long story short, we have this meeting every Wednesday and somehow a legal word was added in my joking back and forth with Janine and it became known as “Witness Wednesday”. Well, on my way to work today, I “witnessed” the typical annoying bike rider cut across all lanes of traffic with no hand signals…nothing! It makes me crazy! I thought “I’m gonna tell Janine, I came across another one of those stupid bike riders on my way to work”, but instead I came up with this great idea. I decided, every “Witness Wednesday”, I will post something I’ve witnessed in the past, something I witnessed today, and something I want to witness in the future.

So here it is…the first weekly “Witness Wednesday”

Something I’ve witnessed in the past: The joy of my first nephew!

Something I’ve witnessed today: The bike rider!

Something I want to witness in the future: Myself buying a house!

Goodbye weekend….see you in a few days!

Ohh how sad it is when the weekend has come…….and gone. I spent a better portion of this past weekend with Tyler. Oh big surprise there, huh? He greeted me with his cute little arms wrapping around me. Ohhhhh …does it get any better than this? Oh wait, it really does! Not only did I get random hugs, but he referred to me as “cute Kristi” the entire weekend. We went on a walk/bike ride, we washed my car, and we played this game of light side/dark side that he made up. We played a couple games and with my honest effort to win, he beat me! He rode his bike down the alley looking for his basketball and found every mud puddle, so we washed his bike. ( I know…the picture looks kinda funny…so of course I had to share!!) We went for a ride in my dad’s new truck and Tyler decided he'd make funny faces, unfortunately the “scared” look was the only one that didn’t turn out blurry. (dang camera phones) I read more of the Twilight series, I’m on the third book. We did have quite the rain storm Thursday night and it pretty much rained straight through till Saturday morning. I attached a picture from the Centennial Webcam...check out that lightning!! All in all….it was a great weekend and I miss it already! See ya soon weekend!

Keeping up with the Joneses…..or rather Tradition!

We made our annual Bear Lake trip this past weekend! Boy, do I love that lake! This year we planned our trip during “Raspberry Days”, fun times…except it was CRAZY town! I’ve never seen so many people in such a small town! Janine and I frantically spent an afternoon back in July trying to reserve a spot at a campground…any campground! I don’t know how many times I heard, “Sorry…we’re full!” “Sorry, no spots available” Ugh!! It was so frustrating, but finally Janine found us a spot at the “Traveland RV Park”, which was quite nice. We were pleasantly surprised…nice showers, flushing clean toilets, clean area, nicely located just off the main drag in Garden City. We loved it!! It put us close to Fish Haven, to the Lake, to Garden City, and to the South side. It was perfect! What a fabulous weekend! We played in the lake, we had bear lake pizza, we talked around the camp fire, we had smores, of course, we laughed, and we lived through the craziest rainstorm Saturday night! Seriously, scared the pants off me. Our tent was moving back and forth in the wind, the rain poured down non stop for what seemed like 5 hours! We woke up the next morning to find several tents draped over people’s cars with them sleeping soundly inside. Our tent was up on this hill and it was one of those two room tents….ya know..the more I think about it..our tent was the King!! We had fun…err..I had fun! I hope everyone else had fun...although..I think William didn’t fully appreciate my style of camping. Oh well…I tried to help everyone have fun, but I’m not a miracle worker! BUT…don’t you worry your little heads.…I did snap a lovely montage of “white girls and gang signs” pictures. OH, and I don't like slide shows...so...Enjoy!
