Kristi Has a Green Thumb? Who knew?

So this year…I made an attempt at a seed-grown vegetable garden. I stayed somewhat simple, but I have to say, I’m quite impressed with myself. I planted a small row of peas, green beans, radishes, and carrots. As of today, my peas, green beans, and radishes are flourishing!! The carrots are working their way up, but I’ve been told carrots tend to “take their sweet time”.

Ohh and don’t tell me I need to thin out my radishes or prop up my peas more….thats my Saturday morning project. :)

Of course the rock garden is always filled with flowers that do very well, one in particular which we decided to plant from a bulb. If you couldn’t tell, it’s the tall plant with the orange flowers and 6 more buds waiting to bloom! Our first year, we only got one bloom, last year we got three blooms…and this year…10!! I’m a little worried about next year. Hehe. Oh and the weird part…the flower spread. I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard of a bulb flower spreading across a garden, but this one sure did! If you look closely you can see a shorter second one with no blooms yet. Gardening is so exciting!! Yay me!

That’s What Friends Are For…

Janine, Janine…what a great gal! She called me up and asked if I wanted to watch an episode of CSI NY with her…..uhhh yeah!!! Do I ever pass up any CSI? Moments later, she texted me with a surprise….she made caramel corn!!!!!! That girl….she knows I love caramel corn. Did I wait any longer? No, I hurried to her house as fast as could! I learned a valuable lesson last night: Nothing beats good friends, a good show, and some good caramel corn! Thanks, Janine!

My "I'm so excited for CSI and caramel corn face"
Yay caramel corn!!!!
Janine even took a VERY beautiful picture of me sneaking a BIG bite!

Have I Been Sleepwalking at Work?

Maybe I didn’t get enough sleep, but typically when I walk down the hall in a Law firm…I don’t expect to enter the twilight zone.

This morning I arrived at work at 7:49, my day was starting with all the usual routines. I turned on the light, set my purse down, turned on my computer, and opened up our waiting room. At this point in the morning, I’m the only one in the office; so I took off down the hall turning on lights as I walked. I didn’t make it very far, stopping dead in my tracks....”Did I really wake up this morning? Or am I still sleeping?” I blinked a couple times and the reality remained….our conference room door and part of the wall was plastered with “kid drawings”. Naturally, I looked closer. “The cat is going to EAT you for lunch”, uhhhh…WHAT?? “The bats will suck up all your blood….” Seriously… *SLAP SLAP* Am I dreaming? Nope! The pictures were all colored red to look like blood and the talk of blood, vampires, zombies, bats, and a cat eating me for lunch! OH and the huge dragon breathing fire….apparently when it looks at me…I’ll die! Where did this stuff come from?? At this point, I’ve left it up. I want to talk to ANYONE else to see if they know where it all came from. Don’t worry, as soon as I know….you’ll know!

** UPDATE!

I found out that one of the Attorneys in the office had a "Head Start" board meeting and one member brought her daughter, Belle, who entertained herself by drawing pictures from a book she had been reading. She even asked Matt if she could leave the pictures up for everyone to see in the morning. Ohhh trust me, Belle...I saw! :)

All Aboard the Bandwagon!!

I say..if you are gonna jump on the bandwagon…it’s definitely better late than never! I’m officially fully saddled for the “Twilight” series bandwagon ride. I can tell you, I’m even more impressed than I expected. I absolutely love it! I started the first book last night and I’m about halfway through. I CAN’T PUT IT DOWN!! I read last night while riding my bike, I read in bed and NEVER fell asleep, AND I read while blindly feeding myself green beans at lunch today! Will this day ever end so I can read more? I need me some more Edward Cullen!!

Like NO Other, Seriously!

Often times, I wonder what made my parents stay in Wyoming all these years. Summer hits, and I’m reminded why even I came back to this great state! This past weekend, we made our annual trek up the Rock Creek Trail. What a beautiful sight! I truly love Wyoming for its never-ending beauty, its wide open spaces, and it’s the “Cowboy State” for Pete’s sake! William came with us this year, we made it past the steep beginning, stopped a couple times to allow Ryan to fish, stopped for lunch at our usual spot by an old deserted cabin, Tyler took a short nap, and William and I dipped our feet in the water. All in all, the weather was perfect and the hike was absolutely amazing, of course!! I can’t wait till next year! Wyoming is seriously…….like no other!

Happy Birthday, Rachael!!

Happy Happy Birthday, Rachael!

My top 5 reasons why I'm grateful for my friend, Rachael Niusulu!

1. She’s beautiful!!

2. Her foresight to invite herself on a trip, where we all found one of our best friends!!!

3. Her cute little Lily!! She has to be included in this; she’s just so cute!!!

4. Her ability to hum “Walk this Way” like nobody else!

5. and most of all, her amazing friendship!!!

I hope you have a fabulous day!!! I love ya, Rach!!!

Nails......again!

I'm going to blog about nails again.....this time unfortunately...it's not my "finger"nails. UGH! Saturday morning, I woke up bright and early to make it to the parade, I drove downtown with the top down, the wind blowing through my hair, and apparently a nail in my rear passenger tire. The parade was great, my cute little Tyler got lots of stuff including; a hat, a water bottle, 3 frisbees, a brown & gold necklace, 3 icee pops, and a big bag of candy. I just love parades, but I don't love coming home to notice my tire is low and then finding a big nail jammed completely in it. We aired up the tire, and I took it in this morning for a repair. Guess what? The guys at the shop found a tire in the front passenger tire as well!! What the crap? Who is randomly throwing out nails on the roads for me to drive over? AND who the crap gets a nail in practically each tire at the same time? Sheesh! Everything is all fixed and I get to drive little Jazz again soon! :)

Handbags and Powertrains

Guess what my wonderful dad got for me?? My very own Dooney & Bourke purse. It's even from the new 2008 "Hayden" collection! Going price on Dooney.com... $347.00!! What did I do to deserve this you ask? I helped my dad take GM related tests. My dad knows his stuff as far as cars are concerned, but he's not so fluent in computers. I basically run the computer and we run through the tests together. Mind you...these tests sometimes take 3 hours!!! Holy cow! I know! Once completing these tests, he is considered current "certified" and he is given reward points. He built up 5,000 reward points over a short period of time and he decided it was time to shop. He picked out a fancy color GPS, Middleton 2 way radios, a Nikon rifle scope for my Ryan's birthday, a Samsung computer monitor (yay a bigger and flat screen for taking MORE tests), a quieter Honda generator, a self inflating queen size airbed, and a D&B purse for my mom. MY reward: My very own REAL Dooney & Bourke purse AND I'm now knowledgeable in the powertrain/features department of any major GM truck or car. YAY!
**By the way...he has 1500 points remaining, I'm trying to talk him into using 500 of those points toward a Nintendo Wii system! Keep your fingers crossed!

Nine Inch Nails

I really don’t have nine inch nails…nor is this a tribute to the group NIN (Nine Inch Nails)….it’s merely my usual update on my nail color change. I’m as usual so happy with my choice. I’m going for a few weeks with the ever classic white tip French manicure. OHH and I just realized my cute toes match my cute new fingers!

Random Acts…They REALLY are so great!

Maybe I’m more astute to it lately…… or maybe the simple courtesy or random act of kindness trend is really catching on. In just the last few days, I can name several incidents of kindness by others.

#1 Kurt, one of the Attorneys in my office, took all my Motions and such to District Court for filing.

#2 My friend, Mike bought me these super cute Nine West shoes, completely out of the blue. What a happy surprise!

#3 An 11 year old boy at the Courthouse surprised me when he stepped back outside and held the door open for me. 11 years old! People really are teaching their children good manners!

#4 The gentleman that I bumped into at WalMart, I’m surprised that guy didn’t get down on his knee and propose…he felt “horrible for bumping into a lady”

#5 The twenty-something guy at Safeway that kindly let me go in front of him at the checkout.

Pedigree Anyone?

I had a funny conversation with my dad the other day.

MY DAD: “Do you have plans tonight?”

ME: “Yep”

MY DAD: “Are you getting your nails done?”

ME: “No”

MY DAD: “Going to get a sun tan?” (I love that he called it a “sun tan” hehehe)

ME: “No” (and at this point, I’m having fun letting him guess because apparently he knows me better than I thought)

MY DAD: “Going to get your haircut?”

ME: “No…”

MY DAD: “Going to William’s?”

ME: “hehe..no, Janine and I are taking her niece, Brittany to get her first pedicure”

MY DAD: “You have an appointment to get a pedigree??”

Hahaha…I corrected him and explained the lovely benefits of a pedicure. He didn’t seem too interested at this point. His phone rang and it was my mom, they were talking about random this and thats when he said “Well Kristi is going to get a pedigree” I again corrected him and said “a pedicure.” He kept interjecting something about Kristi getting a “pedigree”. I gave up, although my dad tends to think he’s a pretty funny guy, so I’m guessing at this point he was just saying “pedigree” to say “pedigree” Needless to say, Brittany, Janine and I loved our “pedigrees”!

Take me out to the ballgame...(Texas, Part 2)

As continued from part 1. (see below) After surviving hanging out in my wet jean capris most of Thursday, we all hopped back in the vans for new adventures on Friday. This time, we were dry and stayed dry…..for the most part. I can’t completely count out sweating, as we did plenty of that. We took in the zoo in the mid-day, I got to see a bald eagle. I’m proud to be an American..where at least I ….sorry. I’ll have to say my favorite part was standing in the doorway to the gift shop. Ohhh feel that air conditioning! Janine treated everyone to an Icee. It at the time…was the most delightful cold treat I’ve ever had! After the zoo, we headed over to Minute Maid Park to enjoy a few happy sightings of Derek Jeter’s backside….err I mean the Astros taking on the Yankees. We had a great view on the main level…even though we had to stand the WHOLE time. Oh well. At the bottom of the 7th or 8th inning, the crowd joined together to sing….. “the stars at night…are big and bright….CLAP CLAP CLAP….deep in the heart of Texas!” I’ve never felt more in Texas than I did at that moment. Saturday, nothing huge was planned, but Val and I made sure we took in a good steak. We found our delight at a place called Saltgrass. What a delicious steak! I haven’t been many places where they messed up a steak….mmm…now my mouth is watering!! Whew..after going and going all weekend, we decided to take it easy the remainder of the day and hang out at Steve and Sharon’s for a home cooked bbq. Of course, we had all the fixins’, hamburgers, hot dogs, raspberry salad, and of course the famous pasta salad! Mmm…good! I was ready to go home the next day, I was exhausted and ready to be back home. Thank you Texas for the fun, but this girl loves her some Wyoming!!!
