The Tide is High

If you haven’t heard….Janine and I went to California for a quick fun weekend trip. We wake up Saturday morning to overcast skies and a tiny chill in the air. Does that stop us? NO way! We’re tough Wyoming girls! We pack up a cooler and throw on some beach gear and are almost out the door. Well after stepping outside and taking a closer look at the weather, it did seem a little too cool for swimsuits. Janine and I decided we would just wear capris since we had no intention at this point to jump full on into the water. Everyone is finally loaded in the van and we head on down the coast. After gazing at the ocean kayakers, the seals, and the beautiful coast line, we find a spot to walk down to the sand. Marcus and Nicolas are ready to jump right in the water. Janine and I are a little hesitant. We just want to put our feet in. Off go the shoes, the water rushes up over our toes and back down leaving wet sand in it’s trail. Ahhhh..thats nice! Another tide crawls up toward us, but doesn’t quite reach our feet, what a disappointment. So we take a couple steps forward with certainty the water will once again embrace our ankles. OH no! It didn’t happen quite like that. As the tide starts making it’s way to us…it didn’t stop. It just kept coming, and coming, and coming! We tried to beat it, but have you ever run in water and sand, it’s not the easiest task. Needless to say, we were left with wet pants and a story to tell.
