A Double Dose of Bad!!

The other night, I’m helping my parents move the contents of the refrigerator out in order to lighten the load AND because… tipping the fridge (we were moving it out of the kitchen to make way for fancy new tiles) and causing the pickles and yogurt to mix…not a good plan. For the record, I don’t like remodeling. It’s messy and sooo inconvenient!!

Ok, so after everything is out of the kitchen and we’ve got the refrigerator plugged in, I’m putting things back in and the door bell rings. My dad with his arms full asked me if I’d check to see who was at the door. Slightly annoyed because I’m POSITIVE they are there to see either my mom or dad, I head to the door to see a girl in sweats and a t-shirt, possibly around my age or younger (Younger?? What? How is that possible..I’m like soooo young!!) standing there with honestly…a somewhat dumb look on her face. I open the door and greet her.

ME: Hi.
GIRL IN SWEATS: Hhhhii (imagine a semi boy-ish and slow voice)

I’m looking at her…waiting…..because she came to my door…uhh hello?? What do you want lady?

ME: Uh…can I help you?
GIRL IN SWEATS: Hhhiii……umm…………

Again, I’m just staring at her…waiting for WHATEVER she could possibly want/say to eventually make it’s way out of her mouth.

GIRL IN SWEATS: Ummm……I hit your car…

WHAT THE @#$@!?!?!?!?!?! Why are my cars NOT safe casually parked in front of a house??

ME: Ok, what car? (I start walking out the door to see the damage, dreading inside the process of getting an estimate, the long term damage, being without your car, and the waiting…… UGH!)
GIRL IN SWEATS: The white car…and the funny part……my car …is in…..park...

HUH? That’s not funny!!

ME: Ok, so where is the damage?
GIRL IN SWEATS: It’s not much…it’s little..I just barely hit it….
ME: Ok, so where is the damage?
GIRL IN SWEATS: Ohhhhh no darlin’……it’s THAT car (she points across the street at the neighbor’s rusty old Honda Accord
ME: (as the sigh of relief hits me so hard, I almost fall over) Ohh, that’s not my car, that’s their car (I point to the neighbor’s house)
GIRL IN SWEATS: Ohhhh…..well…….@#$&!! I just thought……it was the …right thing…….to do…………
ME: Yeah..it is, but that’s not my car, it’s their car, so you would have to talk to them.
GIRL IN SWEATS: Ohhhhh……………it’s just a little bump
ME: Well you would have to talk to them, it’s their car.

Yeah, she had to be drunk or lacking a lot of brains, she was so dumb!
I get back in the house and I’m still feeling the relief pour out of my every pore….whew!!!

I’m bad though, while I’m watching her and still feeling a little bit of fear that she’ll pull away from the curb and swerve to the other side of the road and REALLY hit my car or pull U-turn and hit my car, I kept thinking, “I should call the police, I bet she doesn’t go to the neighbor”. BUT I just continued watching….fearing….fearing…thinking…fearing…thinking…fearing…and she pulled away and no crash sounds!

DANG!!! I never called the police and I never got her license or her name or nothing!

So, my car is okay (yay), but I’m a bad citizen!!
It's so true....2 wrongs...don't make a right!
